It's somewhat of a surprise that it's still going strong, but Epic has confirmed that the program will at least continue until the end of 2022. Thank you for reading this review!!! In-between reviewing rogue-likes, I stream Splitgate on Twitch at twitch.More than three years have passed since the Epic Games Store started its free weekly games initiative. I found overall that the game is a tad bit mediocre and honestly not one of my favorite rogue-likes. I think this dilutes the really satisfying gameplay by not adding any interest to the gameplay loop. Everyone fires a massive circle of bullets or a long line of well-aimed bullets. The dodge roll’s existence incentivizes enemies to have massive bullet-hell attacks that can only be avoided by dodging, but it feels like too many enemies and bosses act like this for attack patterns to feel interesting. My problem with the game is that the enemies feel sort of boring in a way. There’s an immense variety of guns and power-ups. The aiming is difficult on console, but the game’s built-in aim assist makes it more manageable than Nuclear Throne on console. The roll function is consistent and the shooting feels great. Also, aside from moving and shooting, you can also dodge roll, where you leap over any bullets that would touch your character. As the levels progress, the enemies get harder and the guns get cooler. You can also find cool items that either can be used once for huge effects or provide passive bonuses that make shooting stuff easier. To combat these murderous enemies, you get a cool gun you can use to shoot things with (as opposed to the guns that do things other than shooting). Some of them are anthropomorphic bullets while others are regular people with guns while some are just giant knights with gun-swords. On each floor are enemies that want to kill you. Gameplay OverviewĮnter The Gungeon is a rogue-like top-down shooter where you go through floors of a large dungeon. Anyway, its story is just that a bunch of sad criminals are going into a gun dungeon because maybe if they kill enough things, they won’t be bad people anymore or something. Hello everyone! Today, I’ll be reviewing a rogue-like shooter, Enter The Gungeon! This game has been out and been popular for a while, so it’s pretty wack that I haven’t reviewed it yet.
